Information they provided was educational in fact exceptionally so.
I can sincerely say all have been invaluable. The structured delivery of both courses and tasks/activities to complete lead and encourage you to the next.
I have been on numerous courses spanning nearly 30 years including those while a member of the Southampton Premier League Academy coaching staff I can place these courses at the very top and as such will be encouraging current colleagues to enrol as a matter of urgency Great job by all involved in both courses "
Hugo Langton,1st team coach,Eastbourne Borough FC ( National League South ),England
I'd recommend this course to all coaches and managers who work in senior football. I found it far more valuable and relevant to my own situation. Top value and top content.I particularly enjoyed the video content, listening to managers talking about real life football experiences
David O'Neil, Mens Soccer Coach,Bellevue College, Washington State ,USA

Clint Hill, UEFA ‘A’ Licence Coach, Queens Park Rangers FC ( with a career of over 500 games as a player in the English Premier League and Football League )
‘I really enjoyed the course and learnt so much about myself. It was most valuable to listen to the managers speak about their experiences and how important values and objectives are in their team ethos .I learnt so much with all the different scenarios. Good module on communication and has helped me think about the way I will use communication in my future career’
Patrick Foy, UEFA ‘ A’ Licence Coach and Manager of Strabane FC, Northern Ireland Intermediate League
‘Now I will have to admit at the start I was a bit apprehensive about doing a coaching program online as I had seen it as more a practical thing were your on the pitch etc. This is because all my previous CDPs were made up in this method. But I can safely say it has been brilliant because I am also a Manager and a coach and this course has opened up my insight on both aspects in coaching on the communication stuff and touching on the psychology end of things reading moods etc. The scenario's I found most interesting because it involved problem solving and they were all relevant as I have came across most of them in my time as a coach. I have recommended this course to two other coaches’
Keith Harmes,Chelsea F.C. Academy
'I thought the course was excellent, I’ve been telling the guys in the office here to book on the course. The last module on communication was fascinating, its nice to hear top coaches giving their experiences of dealing with players'
Andy Elderton, Academy Coach, Luton Town FC
“I originaly signed up for the course just to complete my CPD for my FA Licence, however I have been so impressed at the level of detail and quality information within the modules. I have fully enjoyed and have been challenged by the work and have learnt so much. I will be moving onto the second course and looking into doing more of this type of learning. An excellent resource. Every section had large elements that informed, challenged and questioned every aspect of my coaching and interaction with players and fellow staff. I found the videos from Managers at the top level to be very informative and all gave excellent insights. I found all the additional resources you had linked to always be though provoking”
Martin Jol, former Manger of Fulham FC, Tottenham Hotspur FC and Head Coach AFC Ajax Hamburger SV
‘It was a great course and a good opportunity to update my knowledge of these important management areas. I enjoyed learning from fellow managers and listening to their perspectives on current management challenges.’
Mick Browne, Head of National Team Scouting, Aspire Academy and formerly Head Coach Aspire Football Academy, Qatar and Director of Charlton FC Youth Academy:
‘The whole concept of creating a Culture of Excellence was introduced and developed very well throughout the modules. The comments from the top Managers that were viewed throughout the Modules were enlightening .Overall I would say that all of the aspects covered were very relevant.’
Johnny Metgod, Assistant Coach Colorado Rapids MLS,former coach Derby County F.C., Feyenoord and Excelsior Rotterdam and former Dutch International player with Real Madrid, Nottingham Forest

Billy Davies, former Manager of Nottingham Forest FC
"Lots of very good points and interesting video links in this course. I like the emphasis of balance and timing within the examples, which was crucial in many of the scenarios that came up.Heat of the moment for us all brings out who we really are and makes us wiser and more prepared for the future when you find yourself going through these sort of experiences"
Mike Mcardle, Academy Coach, Falkirk FC, Scotland
‘Fantastic course for self-development - thoroughly enjoyable, challenging and interesting. Ultimately learnt massively from the content. I will definitely recommend to colleagues and fellow coaches. Looking forward to the next course (on evaluation) which I have signed up for instantly. The knowledge and experience shared by the professional managers is both priceless and educational and will assist greatly in my development as both a coach and a person’

‘I would like to thank you for providing this learning opportunity. I am very happy to expand and extend my learning to management level. At my club, I started to get involved in managerial role, so to me, this is a perfect timing and extremely practical’
Jane France, Coach, Shropshire FA girls Development Centre
“Before I started the course I wasn't really sure if it would be relevant to my level of coaching (I work a lot with children) but it was absolutely brilliant and no matter what level of coaching you coach at you need to create a culture of excellence - everything needs to be right: everyone needs clear goals and values and everyone needs to buy into what you are trying to achieve no matter who you coach. I would definitely recommend the course and it was great to see video clips of the managers talking honestly and it was a great insight as to how they work and how hard they work. Thank you”
Thomas Scott, Coach , Spartans FC, Edinburgh, Scotland
‘I found the course to be interesting, enjoyable and worthwhile. I've learnt many new aspects of leadership and management through doing it and covered new ground in subjects within which I had prior knowledge. I look forward to utilizing these lessons learnt to enhancing my leadership/coaching for the benefit of my players. I found the reflective based tasks challenging but rewarding. I also enjoyed the scenarios as they allowed me utilize the lessons learnt earlier in the module and think about different possible solutions. The content on the interactive site supplemented the community site very well and it was extremely informative to hear the views of the top LMA managers especially Howard Wilkinson. Overall, I found the course very rewarding and worthwhile and would not hesitate to recommend it to others.’
Michael Armstrong, Assistant Head Soccer Coach, Hesston College, Kansas, USA
‘Overall, I truly enjoyed the course and found it helpful: there are many things that I have found valuable throughout this course. Some aspects were good reminders of mistakes I have made and how to better myself from those. Other items were new ideas and ways to go about challenging situations. Overall, I feel that this course has been very insightful and helpful in causing me to become a better coach and manager.’
Wayne Evans, Head of Youth, Shrewsbury Town FC, England
“I found the course of to be very worthwhile especially finding and implementing my own philosophy/values & beliefs, and developing a way to implement them. It is good that there are different learning styles, as we have all different ways of taking in the information. I look forward to completing course 2! Thanks Wayne”
Andy Rohman, Coach Accrington Stanley FC, England
‘The biggest plus point for me was seeing top mangers sharing their views and how the work for’
Bryan RobsonManager Thailand National Team & former Manager of Middlesbrough F.C. & Sheffield United F.C.
“I have found it very interesting doing the Modules. The LMA School of Football Management Course is very good for interacting with people in the game, gaining knowledge of their thoughts and ideas from the blogs. It also refreshers your memory on courses you have been on before. Many thanks for your advice”
Jonathan Potter, Assistant Coach, Mens Soccer, Elon University, North Carolina, USA.
“I have completed the coursework for the LMA School of Football Management Course 1.The information has been invaluable, as a young coach, the video and activities have helped me to think about my own leadership style and different ways I can improve my communication to players. Thank you for allowing me to take the course, I have tremendously enjoyed it.”
Kevin Blackwell : Manager of Bury FA and former Manager of Leeds United FC & Sheffield United FC
“Very enjoyable and thought provoking.Realisitc scenarios as I recognised many of the situations. It was nice for me to see how top managers dealt with them and what their advice was. To see them respond in almost exactly the same way as I did gives me more confidence as a manager. It was also useful to see how other managers and coaches responded to the issues raised and the tasks posed.
Some very useful literature to use and without the course I would not have come across it.-The flexibility of being able to come in and out of the course, has also been very good
Billy Stark, Scottish FA Under 21 Head Coach and former assistant manager of Glasgow Celtic and Manager of Queens Park and St.Johnstone.
"As a technologically challenged individual, the nature of the course provided the first challenge for me and so it was good to "test" myself in that department.
As far as the course goes, I would say it was excellent; - well structured, thought provoking, challenging and credible. It moved through the relevant problems and challenges of football management, confirming and highlighting the fundamentals, and guiding us down new paths in terms of tackling problems in a new and innovative way.
The content and material on the course was extensive and, backed up by the thoughts and experiences of the top people in the game gave it an extra dimension.
All in all, a very enjoyable and educational experience and one which can only benefit me in the coming years."
Willie Donachie: First Team Coach,Newcastle United FC, former Millwall FC Manager and Assistant Manager of Manchester City FC,Everton FC,Ipswich Town FC
“Stimulating and enjoyable. Sorting out values and why they are important was challenging and helpful. Really enjoyable thanks
Ged McNamee Academy Manager, Sunderland F.C. English Premier League
“Very Stimulating - The LMA School of Football Management allows you to access some interesting information. I find that the modules encourage you to re-evaluate your present managerial / coach practices. The course also allows you to draw on other course members points of views and experience. I have found it addictive and enrolled a number of staff from our club!”
Terry Burton, Head Development Coach,Arsenal FC,London and formerly First Team Coach,West Bromwich Albion FC,English Premiership
“I enjoyed doing the course. It gives you a chance to pick up additional knowledge without having to spend time away from the training ground.
I think the most inspiring aspect have been the links that lead on from the
questions, I have recommended the course to several coaches already I hope they
follow it up. Keep up the good work and thank you once again for keeping us thinking”
Richard Dobson,Assistant Manager Wycombe Wanderers FC
"The course has been excellent. It has been thought provoking throughout with the different activities in each module bringing a nice variety to the learning. I have done a lot of work on some of the aspects covered in the course previously but it has been good to revisit those aspects whilst other parts have been new and valuable to me in my current role, particularly the scenarios in dealing with players and the feedback given by the managers. As you well know, when you work in football you can get so wrapped up in what is going on at your club that you do not get a chance to hear and see what happens at other clubs. Hearing from the top managers on this course has been insightful and helpful.
I also liked hearing from people from outside of football, whether that be a coach from another sport or someone from the world of business. There are many crossovers that can be taken and used in football and it has been good to hear about different methods and viewpoints from other perspectives.
I have found the course to be very relevant and have honestly not completed an activity where I thought that it held no use or value to me. Something was picked up in each activity.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to continue my learning and development. I have enjoyed the course and the challenges that it brought and I am sure that it will make me better in my role going forward
Andy Cooper, coach Aspire Academy, Qatar
This a real refreshing course and I believe is of real value to any professional coach who would like to review what they are currently doing but also look ahead to the future. It allowed me to me more critical and personal than i have ever been before and address the issues such as confidence, communication and planning.”
Gerard Jones,Academy Coach,Rochdale FC,England
Course 1 was absolutely fantastic, even now I'm still using the theories that I learnt from the modules in my everyday coaching, and the course allowed me to understand how to develop a culture that encourages excellence and is shaped around my philosophy...can't wait to get on course 2 and I would reccomend these courses as a requirement to any coach
Keith Boanas, Head Coach for The Estonian FA National Womens and Girls Teams
“Everything on this course has been positive whether to re-enforce my own experiences and knowledge or show and highlight new concepts and different ideas from other realms like business and other sports. Really enjoyed it.Thank you for evolving the concept and designing the course along with such great colleagues in the game.”
Lee Hodge, Coach, Plymouth Argyle Centre of Excellence
“Fantastic course which will help me in the long term I am sure. I have thoroughly enjoyed this course it has been very informative and I will keep recommending it to other coaches”
Shaun Harris, Technical Director ,Capital City FC .Ottawa,Canada
"I do believe a learning tool that is online such as this for elite development within management is effective as we as coaches/managers are spread out in so many different places. The opportunity to view and hear thoughts from top managers/colleagues as to key subjects was helpful to have a more diverse understanding as to the way we think and act. Also the opportunity to keep a journal and/or see other thoughts on the community site is a great resource built into the course."
Ásmundur Arnarsson,Head coach of Icelandic Premiership Club Fylkir FC
“ Thank you for a good course All the aspects the course were of great value and what stands out is to find out who you really are, what are your strengths and weaknesses and then how to get the most out of your own strengths and minimize your weaknesses. Very much the same you have to do with your players. It is also really great, living in the small country of Iceland to get to listen to those big managers and how they act to some situations and what is their philosophy
It was not the same as I expected but I think I got much out of it. It took more time than I expected but I´m glad I went through with it “
Dave Watson, Youth Team Coach Wigan Athletic FC, former 1st team Coach Everton FC and Manager Tranmere Rovers FC
“I really enjoyed the course; there was something to be gained from all parts of the course. In particular hearing from the Managers who have been so successful themselves was especially inspiring. The Modules covered important areas of Management and even if they were things you knew it just made you re assess and look at things in a different way and also gives you that little push and inspiration to improve more. The community site is good to have to look things up on and see other people’s points of view.”
Peter Feher : Under 19 Head Coach ,FC Nordsjælland , Dannish Premier League
I think all of the courses, I just tried to review them but the themes blend very well and it all seems like one big course in creating the culture of excellence, which bottom line starts with me or my club. I liked the parts with self-study, cause I believe that it´s up to me how much I want to get out of this course (And actually there is a lot of knowledge on the internet that I don´t use and this course has opened my eyes to that).
Colin Jack,Academy Coach,Hibernian FC,Scotland
"I would like to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the module. It was extremely helpful and worthwhile, providing me with some great insights. It also, helped me to think about the game and management more, providing me with new ideas to move forward as a coach"
Nick D'Amore, Director of Coaching and Development Highlands Soccer Association New South Wales, Australia
“Overall a great course. This is the course I have been looking for. The e course have given me the opportunity to development and these (leadership) skills will be put in place in the association and clubs that I work with”
Dean Austin, former Assistant Manager at Reading FC, Watford FC & 1st Team coach at Crystal Palace FC,
“I have enjoyed the course very much and I would recommend to any young coach/manager with a thirst to learn and who wants to pick up pointers and new idea's and listen to the experience of top people in our field as Mr. Wilkinson, Sir Alex, Mr. Wenger, Mr. Capello, Mr. Moyes, a group of Managers who you cannot possibly fail to learn from. I found the scenario's interesting and makes you aware of the problems you are going to encounter. Also great video footage of leaders such as John Wooden and Warren Gatland which were career inspiring.”
Ricky Clarke: Director of Coaching, Mission Valley United, San Jose,California
“Stella stuff! I’ve enjoyed the interaction of Premiership managers, real live scenarios and ongoing problem solving. The course has clearly made me reflect, review and change current aspects on my day to day job. I'd promote this course to my colleagues and friends. Thank you once again”
Chris Panayiotou:Youth Director of Coaching,MYSC Rush,Wisconsin
"The whole course was brilliant. The question asking to consider how I like to be coached and how I like to communicate was very thought provoking as were many of the questions of the course."
JOHN PASCARELLA: Assistant Coach, Sporting KC, MLS
“It was truly an outstanding learning experience! It is the first course I've seen that deals with the nature of teams and group dynamics instead of techniques and tactics. Interesting, thought provoking and extremely realistic regarding the situations that come up within high level teams on a daily basis. Being able to work through scenarios, exchange viewpoints with other professionals on the course was very beneficial.”
Mike Jacobs, Head Soccer Coach, University of Evansville, NSCAA Board Member
“This course was outstanding, and hearing the thoughts of the top managers in the world talking about how important core values and beliefs reinforced my own thoughts and beliefs. The case studies were also outstanding, making me think about how I would deal with specific situations; listening to video interviews from the likes of Howard Wilkinson was tremendous”
“Thanks again for everything. I did find the course interesting and would recommend it to others. The scenarios were excellent in making you apply the modules topic into real world occurrences. I like the flexibility to work when and where I can via the blog. I have made a couple of contacts but have noticed that most are not so willing to comment on the works of others. My online tutor Tony Waiters has had wonderful input and his comments have been right on”
Heads Men’s Soccer Coach, Texas A & M, USA
“I want to thank the League Managers Association with his forward thinking and approach to advanced coach education. At the top level managers and coaches are very busy and do not have the time to travel and take a 5-10 day course but through the LMA School of Football Management they bring it directly to the office or home and can be completed at one’s own pace. And having the chance to learn from the games’ biggest names was brilliant! I am greatly looking forward to the next release since we do not have anything like this in the US.''
Nigel Boulton Soccer Coach, William Carey University, Mississippi, USA
“The course was an excellent tool for self examination. For me personally there wasn't anything really new to learn but it reinforced and reconfirmed many of my own thoughts and ideas as well as pointing out some areas of neglect. It was absolutely well worth the time and money. One of the interesting outcomes was to realize how we all have access to the same information and assistance, it is more about how you use it and how you perform - whether personally or as the team. Finding the right balance is crucial and I think if you are inexperienced you will learn a lot that will help you improve. If you are experienced you may adjust your focus or pick up and improve areas you are weak in or have neglected. “
Paul Brush :Assistant Manager, Lincoln City FC, English Football League
‘What I most enjoyed about the course was the way on each module you were drip fed information/advice/experiences from the video clips. Absolutely fascinating to listen to.
I found the course very thought provoking and spent long periods of time thinking and considering without touching the keyboard. It was great to work on a structure like this during my period out of work and it has helped me prepare for my new role at Lincoln City F.C.”
Former Manager of Colchester United F.C. & Leyton Orient F.C., English Football League
"The course has been a real help in me questioning, and re-affirming my values and beliefs. Listening to the top managers interviewed & sharing their knowledge on real issues is invaluable."
Claire Paterson : coach of the women’s team at the University of British Columbia at Okanagan and named ‘2010 Canadian women’s soccer National Coach of the Year ‘ :
“ I definitely feel that information that I have learned on the LMA course so far as helped me become a better coach.”
Roby Stahl: a well known former NASL player ,College Coach, Youth Soccer Technical Director,ODP Staff Coach and Ohio South Youth Soccer Association Director of Coaching who is now Head Coach for the Cincinnati Kings playing in the PDL :
“ Congratulations on presenting such a fine course! Even though I consider myself an experienced older coach I found the course thought provoking and stimulating. The video interviews are excellent and I am going to go back over them before the course finishes and enjoy them again. It is also great to find some many colleagues around the world and make new friends. I will highly recommend this course and write an article on my blog page which goes to approximately 6000 players, coaches and families.”
Mohammed El Zare: University of South Alabama,DOC Mobile Soccer Club, Alabama
“The LMA course is the most practical, realistic course I have ever taken. Most courses, licenses, degrees I have attended are, theoretical in nature, with little to apply. I have gained a lot because I'm allowing myself to reflect with every module.”
Victor Martinez, DOC Juventus Soccer Club, California, ODP Staff Coach and Course Instructor for CYSA
“I CAN'T EXPRESS ENOUGH HOW MUCH VALUE I'VE FOUND IN THIS COURSE. I'VE LEARNED SO MUCH ABOUT MYSELF, MY COACHING APPROACH, AND HOW TO BUILD A BETTER CLUB. AS MANY COACHES HAVE SAID IN THIS COURSE, EDUCATION IS KEY TO YOUR CONTINUED SUCCESS AND THIS COURSE HAS EDUCATED ME FAR MORE THAN ANY SO FAR. WHY? BECAUSE THE FOCUS WAS NOT ON A TOPIC AND METHODOLOGY BUT ON MYSELF AND HOW CAN I IMPROVE MYSELF, MY PLAYERS, MY TEAM, MY CLUB, MY COMMUNITY, AND SOCCER AS A WHOLE. THANK YOU.”
Technical Director at York Region Soccer Association, Toronto, Canada
“I have enjoyed participating in the course immensely. It has illustrated, using various media, what it takes to start becoming an effective coach or manager.
The use of the blog to document and track thoughts and findings is a very useful learning tool. The various modules have been well thought out and structured to challenge the learner and put them in a position to make a decision based on the information or scenario provided, again a very useful method.
The videos and links to speakers etc was well done and very useful.”
National coach at the FA of Thailand, FIFA & AFC Instructor
“I really enjoyed the course. The main reasons being that it is "real" football people giving the lectures, Ferguson,Wenger,Capello,Wikinson etc.
There are also a number of practical scenarios and they also are from the real world of football, such as Interfering Chairmen and the problems of the press!
The course pushes you and doesn't let you float along in your comfort zone.
A great asset to professional development”
Coach Education Officer at Football Association of Ireland
“Compared to other E-Learning courses I have taken part in, this one in particular encourages the student to log their learning as they progress through the course and this element has been very beneficial to me. It allows for time to reflect on the topics and compile your thoughts in a logical manner. The learner is involved in the course from the start and not merely a spectator.
The use of high profile Coaches for audio/video modules also makes for interesting viewing and provides a 'real life' aspect to the football scenarios discussed in the modules.
I have spent considerable time watching, analyzing and sharing my thoughts on the blog.
The real key for me though is that the course is not easy, it's not something you can simply fly through. It is thorough, thought provoking and focuses the learner from the off set.
I see it as a very worthwhile element of my professional development in Football Management. I have already implemented some of the ideas in my own management and coaching positions.”
Shawn Hayes,- University of Michigan
"I thoroughly enjoyed this course. It took me a bit longer to get through it than I hoped due to work coupled with a recent engagement all on top of handling the responsibilities I have in charge of a few teams and within our local club. I wish I could have done it a bit more consistently, but it was still enjoyable every time I logged on to learn more. I was excited about it each day I worked on the course. My hunger to learn more and learn what World Class managers have to say about the various aspects of leadership was very strong throughout the course and made it enjoyable and beneficial to learn new things and confirm methods I was already familiar with. Great course overall - I would recommend to all coaches/managers."
Rob Ryles: Newcastle Town F.C., Northern Premier League, England
When I enrolled on the course I did so because it was the only one of its type I could find. I have experienced numerous football related courses and was prepared for some disappointment.
Having completed the course I am happy to say it has been stimulating, challenging, refreshing, informative and practically focused. It had been of enormous help to me and will continue to be so. I have revisited many things and have been introduced to some excellent material.
The course is not easy if done properly and has a foundation of success principles that is enlightening in our industry. It is thought provoking, stimulating in its approach to learning materials and presentations as well as being logically presented.
The video interviews with current successful managers are a unique tool.
First Team Coach at Corby Town Blue Square, Conference North League, Northants, England
“I’ve really enjoyed the course and the very flexible way I can jump in and out of the course when it’s convenient for me.
The knowledge I have taken from the course is invaluable and supported by managers and coaches at the very highest levels.....where one day I see myself.
If I didn't I wouldn’t have the drive, desire and self belief to set high standards and now a culture of excellence... once again a great course thank you and I look forward to receiving my certification which will take pride of place next to my coaching awards”
Technical Head Coach at Langley United Youth Soccer Association, British Columbia, Canada
“I have really enjoyed working through this course. I enjoyed everything, if I were to single out one specific area it would be the "real life interviews" I have done a number of E-Learning courses and expected something similar to begin with, however I am blown away with the real-life interviews.
Though-out the course the video interviews were of great benefit to me. The LMA Football Management Course gives one the opportunity to systematically work through a program in one's own home or office, listening and learning from the world's best. Personally I rate this program very highly!
I enjoyed the LMA School of Football Management Course very much. When you get the next course up and running I will be signing up.
In a nutshell - Excellent stuff! “
