Chris Palmer, Southampton FC Academy, England
"The information I have gained throughout all parts of Courses 1 & 2 have been enlightening in regards to thought processes of all who were interviewed.
Information they provided was educational in fact exceptionally so.
I can sincerely say all have been invaluable. The structured delivery of both courses and tasks/activities to complete lead and encourage you to the next.
I have been on numerous courses spanning nearly 30 years including those while a member of the Southampton Premier League Academy coaching staff I can place these courses at the very top and as such will be encouraging current colleagues to enrol as a matter of urgency Great job by all involved in both courses "
Darren Kelly, former Manager of Oldham Athletic FC
A TOP COURSE! I found this course very very good. I have enjoyed the discussions, the interviews and the various different opinions. I have recommended this course to a few people already and it will certainly help me with my next step in management.
David Hall,Head Coach, Worthing Football Performance Programme,
I really liked how it all came together at the end with the Evaluation Action Plan. It brought all the thinking and theory together and along with the different nature of the course (video, reading, downloads etc.) it has been a well paced and enjoyable course.
Mark Robins, former Manager of Huddersfield Town FC, Coventry City FC,Barnsley FC & Rotherham United FC
As always, thought provoking. The course has given me a real insight in to developing my strategies in relation to my overall ideal philosophy. Also good to read the thoughts of other coaches and managers Great information given. The Videos are a big help.
Scott Armstrong :Director of Coaching, Space Coast Utd. Soccer Club, Florida & High School Coach
As a coach I have always been looking for tools to help me align my thoughts, organize my ideas and develop an effective strategy that can be easily translated into a coaching plan. In taking this course I was able to focus on analyzing game details/data of what was and was not working. It allowed me to accurately make the correct changes during games at practices and ultimately think a little differently. It truly gave me the ability to look at the game in a different way and helped me win a State Championship with Westshore High School, Brevard County, Florida
Kevin Blackwell, former Manager of Leeds United and Sheffield United
“I have always used stats to assist me in my management, helping me to clarify observations with hard facts. This course has broadened my view on how I can use information through analysis and evaluation to benefit Player/ Team performance by tailoring training and game preparation more specifically. If you are a manager or coach wishing to progress in the game this course will have great value for you”
Anthony Frayne, Coach Stanmore College, Middlesex,UK
“The course opened my eyes to the vast array of analysis methods available to coaches. It also helped identify what we can and cannot do, it will certainly help develop the practice
Brilliant to see that there is a real move to evidence based practice, as opposed to the "old wives tales" that have informed such poor coaching over the past 20 - 30 years. It has challenged me and got me thinking more consciously about how I can review the practice of myself and others”
Chris Robinson, Academy Scout Chelsea FC and former Manager of Cheltenham Town FC
‘I valued it all, to be honest, although the sections on talent identification and opposition scouting were particularly relevant to me in my role as scout with Chelsea FC's academy. I also was much taken by the emphasis on good feedback to players and the role of self-evaluation for coaches and players, particularly young players. I attach my Evaluation Action Plan (EAP) I also worked up this document a bit to produce, for my own benefit really, a slightly larger document setting out my overall approach now to management and coaching which incorporates much of my EAP. It’s been 15 years since I managed full-time (Cheltenham Town FC was my last club as a manager) and I think this document is very different from one I would have written then and the course has a lot to do with that.’
Wayne Evans, Head of Youth, Shrewsbury Town FC
‘Overall I found the course thought provoking it makes you think more long term than short term, it makes you examine everything you do & the way you do it’
Willie Donachie, Senior Academy Coach Newcastle United FC, formerly Manager Millwall FC
“We must have a plan for our work or it is aimless. Study and analysis of what helps our plan's success is vital. This course has input from some of the best minds in football and I found the course stimulating and inspiring. In a highly-charged emotional game, the course reminds us of what works practically as a base for our dreams and goals.”
Colin Jack, Academy Coach,Hibernian FC, Scotland
"This course is a fantastic tool. The quality of videos from the outstanding managers, the information passed on and the thought provoking questions have all helped me enormously as a coach.I have taken so much away from this course, as I have from the first one, that I will continue to use this in my work at Hibernian."
Alan Moore, Head of Youth Academy, Bury FC
“I've really enjoyed this and the other LMA course for that matter. What I'll take away from it is the how/why I'm going to use KPI’s in the future. I also liked player profiling which I will use in a Bury FC format. All in this entire course will help me and my players develop in the future”
John Pascarella, Coach, Sporting Kansas City, MLS, USA
"The course information is outstanding. It gives coaches some ideas on how to take your own style of play and then create KPI's that apply to that given style. The benchmarks/statistics give us an idea of what to shoot for in relation to high level teams.
It has created some thought and ideas about what we want to do here in KC with the help of our IT/analysis people and the first step is generating some league-wide statistics to use as our benchmarks”
Grant Findlay, Director of Coaching, United Soccer Academy, USA and former coach Glasgow Rangers FC Youth Academy, Glasgow, Scotland
“Fantastic course-The themed videos from experienced professionals - in particular Roy Hodgson, Howard Wilkinson and Sam Allardyce were excellent. I also felt that the progressive activities through the modules are a great way of gradually piecing together the building blocks of the course. This allows you to take the time to methodologically learn (and reflect upon) the steps in the process.
The Evaluation Action Plan was very valuable - a structured plan that I can now integrate into my coaching practice.”
Willy Gerdsen Director of Coaching East Coast Bays FC, New Zealand
& New Zealand U-17 Men's Assistant Coach
‘A great course- really well structured and organized & brought together in Section C.
I thought this course was absolutely excellent & I really enjoyed it.’
Jonathan Dixon, Academy Performance Analyst Reading FC
‘It was a great course. There were many areas of this course that were most value to myself, areas such as an action plan or different methods to develop players provided knowledge which will help me greatly in the future.’
Kevin Julian,Youth Academy Coach, Cliff Avenue FC ,Vancouver, Canada
“I always enjoy the videos; I often watch them numerous times weeks apart. I think Gavin Fleig at Manchester City was very well spoken and knew the field really well. I've taken a lot from what he has said and I am trying to implement some of the ideas I have generated from his videos.
It was the first time I had identified KPIs in such detail, and it is interesting to think why I had never done it earlier. Especially since I believe I have a defined football philosophy (a philosophy that was developed in more detail after completing Course 1).
My Self-Evaluation Plan is one the aspects I enjoyed most working towards. It will constantly be re-addressed but the template that has been developed will serve as a great starting point for future coaching jobs/projects.
Really enjoyed the course. I am without doubt it has had a positive impact on me as a coach”
Ian Whyte, Coach Sheffield United FC Academy and former coach at Derby County FC, Wolverhampton Wanderers FC and Nottingham Forest FC
“I really enjoyed the course and would recommend it to all coaches working in the professional game.
Coaches have recognised the necessity of in - depth feedback requiring greater specificity into their player and team performances. This course shows coaches how to achieve this through being able to organise and interpret the data collected correctly”
Steve Guinan, Coach English Universities and Academy Manager, Hartpury College
"To be able to gain an insight into some of the country’s best coaches, managers and analysts is fantastic and I would recommend the course to anyone who wants to be able to use more objectivity in order to assess performance. I am certainly going to use some of their advice and work upon educating both myself and my players in performance analysis.
I must also comment on the price of the course. To get the amount of advice and content that is available.I feel it is a very good price for what you get. I'm sure most candidates of the course feel the same."
Joey Lombardi, U20 Canadian Women's National Team - Technical Assistant, Canadian Soccer Association
“I just completed the final portion for the LMA Course 2 "Evaluating Performance". The content was very relevant to my needs and I found the information very insightful. Each module was linked with each other and the self learning process allowed me to identify key trends within my team’s performance. Thank you for offering these types of e-learning experiences and I look forward to future courses from Sports Path!”
Colin Lee, Assistant Manager Notts County FC and former Manager of Wolverhapmton Wanderers FC, Watford FC, Walsall FC and Torquay FC
“I have found the course very interesting and would recommend all Managers and Coaches to sign up to the course - It has given me an insight into the various areas evaluation can be used and how you can get the best information from Analysis / Stats. It has highlighted ways to improve both Team and Player development. It has also lead me into developing new training sessions around the information received from evaluation”
Stephen Constantine, Manager/Head Coach Nea Salamina FC, Cyprus First Division
“I thought overall the course was very insightful and full of really good points . I really enjoyed seeing how Man City work and hearing the guest speakers in particular Sam on what they’re thinking and how they go about it. For me it has changed the way I look at things and in fact made me more conscious of certain aspects.”
Darren Spurrier,UEFA B Coach, New Jersey,USA
“Congratulations on providing such a great and informative course. It has taken me the best part of a year but I feel incredibly pleased to have taken part it what can only be described as one of the most indepth courses I have partaken in.This course is a must for any coach”
Shaun Harris, Head Coach and Technical Director, Capital City, FC (Canadian Soccer League) Ottawa, Canada
“I felt the ability to see how coaches/managers link with their performance analysis teams and in some cases have to devise the system themselves due to available resources from simple to complex was informative. The course itself provides guidance and ideas which a coach/manager can pick or choose from, devise new forward thinking ideas to put into place - if he chooses. As technology continues to evolve the only way is to be as forward thinking as possible and the 'Performance analysis course with Prozone' gives an abundance of ideas and material to start and/or evolve from”
Nick D’Amore, Director of Coaching Highlands Soccer Association, New South Wales, Australia
'Another great course which has made me becomes a better coach. Thank you for taking the time and making the effort of putting it together. I look forward to the next one.'
Paul Brush, former Assistant Manager at Southend FC and Lincoln City FC
"I had not had much access to "Prozone stats" so it was somewhat overpowering at first to see the amount of analysis readily available from the links.I had not known how easily accessible detailed information was.
The course has enabled me to digest new detailed information in layers and comfortably except relevant useful input from people who are not professional football managers and coaches. It has changed some of my thinking and made me look differently at certain match situations -sometimes moving back to the originality of a move /goal and sometimes to the consequences of incompleteness.
I am very glad to have completed this course. To me I see now that evaluating performance with clear relevant reliable statistical evidence will help me prioritize my planning and training so to enable my team and the individuals involved -including myself- to improve and exceed our agreed set targets"
Steve Darby, former National Coach FA of Thailand
"Excellent material, valuable and relevant"
Gordon Hill,Director of Coaching,United FC,McKinney,Texas,USA and former player for Manchester United FC and England
"I would just like to say thank you, I thought the course was very informative and helped me in understanding more about how important Performance Analysis is. and what roles it plays in the modern game. I liked the speakers and got a feel of who played the game and who did not, but that did not matter as they all contributed to making it worth while, I got a lot out of it and found that giving objective feedback to a player who is trying to improve his performance feels good. and will continue to develop."
