Amazingly in one of Europe's smallest countries with a population of 320,000 Iceland have qualified as one of 8 countries for the 2011 UEFA Under 21 Championship beating Scotland at home and away in the play-offs.France,Germany,Holland,Russia,Portugal and 42 other countries did not qualify but Icleand did- why ?
There is presentation below by Siggi on the development of players and coaches in Iceland and in relation to the part played by the web he also added recently :
"It is very common for coaches in Iceland to have a blog where they put in their announcement and info regarding training etc. for their players.
The Icelandic FA has an official homepage and a part of it is the education department webpage which we have developed. The education webpage gets 200 hits per day or 6.000 hits per month is quite good considering they only have 700 active coaches in the country."
